10 Ways Being Busy Lessens Your Productivity
By avoiding filling your time with ineffective tasks you’ll begin to see a pattern of how much time you waste in attaining your achievements
Our brain can only do one thing at a time.
I won’t write it again because if I do I may confuse your brain, which is more than likely reeling at the new knowledge that it can only do one thing right now!
For it thought it was intelligent and now may be thinking it’s not as it thought it was.
But then again, your brain doesn’t control its thoughts.
Instead, you do. And that’s the part of you that’s often referred to as your ‘self’. It’s the part that steers the ship. Or the mind in other people’s language.
So if your brain can only do one thing, then why don’t we choose the correct thing to do every time?
That’s a fair enough question. After all, who wants to waste time? Because if you do you`ll never get what you want right now.
And as we live in a world of people wanting things instantly through the use of consumerism and instant gratification which are promoted by all things with a button or a swipe screen, surely then we need to focus on what keeps us from achieving what we want?
So that’s where being busy ruins things for us all.
Yet many people continue to keep busy in the vain hope it will get them to where they dream and deep down deserve they should be. But maybe it’s time to avoid this nest of being busy and replace it with little twigs of starting to be more productive.
Here are 10 ways you can swap being busy for a more productive life:
1. Do each task well rather than quickly
Because if you don’t do it properly then you won’t get the best outcome. And then others will know your work is shabby.
For example, if you take any great piece of art, song, or poem you’ll know as soon as you see, hear, or read it that it’s of great value and then you`ll soon realize that you`re not the only one that thinks this. That’s because the artist or poet has taken their time to refine what they have created and they`ve put all their energies into it without being distracted by other thoughts or things.
2. Accept it when a task goes unwell and learn from it
This is where reflection is so powerful as it allows you to understand not only where you went wrong but how you`ll avoid making that exact same mistake in the future. As when tasks go wrong in this way they can be the greatest guide to your future success, so long as you`re open to their learning.
3. Be open to constructive criticism
Because if you`re doing things to keep busy you`re more than likely doing many things to a level that can be improved and if this is happening people will notice. And as we are all not the same in life there will be those that criticize your work. But if the work means
a lot to you then you have to be open to constructive criticism from those that have better success at whatever you are doing.
Then you`ll be able to go from the mundane loop of being busy all the time to begin being more productive instead.
4. Be content with the small wins of the day
Because not every day will be a big day with big wins.
By playing things safe in life and keeping yourself busy, you`ll guarantee to avoid potential big wins but you may still stumble across many small wins in the meantime. However, suddenly deciding on being more productive it won’t make you achieve big wins all of a sudden either. Instead, this takes time but by investing in this time properly the big wins will come along and you’ll enjoy the small wins that come from being productive in the first place.
5. Do what makes you happy
For then you won’t feel as if you`re ever working in life. And when you focus on what makes you happy you`ll be more inclined to want to be more productive too.
6. Ignore the skeptics as they are not living your life
Although it’s healthy to be open to constructive criticism threes a fine line between that and taking on bad energy from those that are skeptical about your newfound ambitions to become more productive in life. So ignore the skeptics who are only intent on bringing people down and not lifting them.
7. Know your value and honor it
As you are great at something and it’s your mission to find out what that is so you can spend more time at it. Because in doing so you`ll avoid being underproductive and instead push yourself into a positive cycle of self-improvement.
8. Never be busy changing who you are as if you do it will only keep you from being the productive person you can be
As there are too many people in the world who are overly concerned about their image and what others think about them without them ever concentrating on achieving something of note first. They do this as they have fears of being different from the rest and these overcome their ambition to get things done well. But by doing things well first it will allow you to stand out from the ordinary and then people will be forced to recognize you for who you are and what you want to be.
9. Accept defeat in the task as a re-direction to a new path of success
Because sometimes your performance is so bad and it proves that that area is not where your true talents lie. But at this point, once you can use your vision to see where your talents best lie then this lesson will be one of the best you`ll ever have.
10. Time passes so accept it won’t be kind to you if you waste it
As there is no turning back the clock once you hit a certain time in life. So you must make the most of it when you have that time. And that’s why there is no time like the present.
So what are you waiting for, why not produce your best in life and watch what happens after that?
