When I was young I was impressed by those who could do little to attract attention.

Yet since the internet has come along it seems everyone wants attention and they have to do lots to get it.

Going viral might seem as if it’s an attractive thing but believe me, it takes work and more than a slice of luck too. I should know because it’s happened to me a couple of times with my content. And when it does you`re always a little surprised because you never know which piece of content is going to be liked by the majority of people.

For sure though, when you`re creating content that you intend to go viral you are conscious that you`re trying to impress the mass market.

Yet the vast majority of the time it never works.

So being very honest it’s hard to know what will catch fire online such is the extreme amount of content that’s uploaded every second of the day.

Yet before the internet came along and people started creating their content with a mobile phone movie stars were all the rage.

And Paul Newman was a massive movie star who oozed class on the screen.

So much so that his twinkling blue eyes, pale skin, and blonde hair aided by his calm demeanor captured millions of hearts as he stared in many a role on the big screen.

One such role was when he appeared in Cool Hand Luke.

There he played a prisoner in a Southern chain gang who kept escaping and being recaptured. In the movie he showed his coolness of character and rarely buckled under the pressure of being locked up.

When I watched it as a child I thought that he was a cool character simply because he could control his mind under adverse stress and if you could do this in prison surely you could do this in other pressurized situations as well?

Looking back the character of Cool Hand Luke was admirable as he didn’t have to try as hard as all the content creators out there that are pushing out content online hoping to be noticed. As Luke was cool by nature. He had this calm demeanor about himself yet was admired by many because of his ability to continue to be calm, think intelligently, and outfox many of the prison guards on several occasions.

The truth is though not many people can do this in real life.

Like the content creators who are churning out excess content day after day and hoping for it to be noticed so they can be paid and noticed by the masses of viewers online, there’s still pressure to it all. Because many of them need to create the content daily. After all, it’s their source of income, and although they have the skill to create the content they may not have many other skills or a university education to back them up if they don’t go viral.

So even though people see things online and think:

“Wow that’s a heck of a video, that content creator has got thousands of views they`re lucky!”

The reality is there’s rarely a one-hit wonder of a positing online that goes viral for a content creator on their first effort. And that one video that does go viral is needed by them to keep them fed, their rent paid, and for them to continue to create good content for others to watch.

It’s the same with many things in life.

No matter what you do it’s difficult to keep calm and attract positivity if you`re stressing about things.

That’s why simple things like:

·Forcing yourself to smile when you wake up every morning,

·A daily meditation practice,

·Being grateful for the small things in life and for what you can control,

·Promising yourself you`ll never give up no matter what,

·Taking a break when things get too stressful,

·Going for walks in nature,

·Constantly searching for great mind hacks,

·Reading books that help you grow as a person,

·Spending time alone,

·Eating well,

·Sleeping properly,

·Taking breaks no matter what pressure your feel under,

·Talking to good and supportive friends,

·Having the right people around you in life,

and

·Being open to knowing when you need to change what you are doing in life.

Yet there are many more things that will help you keep calm and attract positivity as you try to make your way through life.

But the main thing is you continue to put in as much effort into being calm as the effort that many millions of content creators put into going viral.

Because they won’t all achieve that virility all of the time but you can create a calm and positive oasis in your mind forever.

And that too will keep you from the prison within yourself.
