5 Mental Performance Enhancers

Many performers look for drugs to help them get that extra edge in performance but it's your mind that is the best thing that makes you perform to the highest level

Caffeine is the most consumed psychoactive on the planet.

And when we speak about mental performance enhancement we often forget about those that are available in the supermarket or over the counter. Because many people think performance enhancement has to be some form of drug that needs to be prescribed to you or bought from a dark website.

But, it’s not.

Yet every morning billions of cups of coffee are drunk by people to give them the trigger to attack their day.

And most of those people are not high-performing people.

But they are taking something that enables them to be one.

1. As caffeine improves reasoning skills and people’s short-term memory over the short term. And as many people are not mentally sharp enough in the early morning once they take a cup of coffee they are plugged into the life of the day and feel they’re ready for action.

2. Nicotine is another performance-enhancing supplement that goes over most people’s heads when they think about what is a performance enhancer.

And it’s one of the main ingredients in many cigarettes and tobacco too. It can improve alertness in people who require it but can become addictive over time and cause many cancers too.

Yet over a billion smokers exist in the world.

There are a host of other performance enhancers too.

3. Ritalin is used by many people who have attention deficit disorder (ADD) and narcolepsy.

Available on prescription it stimulates the brain to increase dopamine and noradrenaline concentrations on people’s brains.

And I`ve seen its effects up close.

Although it does work to center people along their way, enable them to perform at a greater level and be more in the zone when they are working it can also dull their personality. I’ve also seen people take it and become more depressed in themselves too even though they are achieving greater levels of productivity.

4. Creatine is another popular performance enhancer that many athletes take.

It is especially popular among the bodybuilding community because it enables competitors to bulk up quicker than their body can without the supplement.

However, like anything you put into your body that changes it so fast there can often be side effects or questions about its effectiveness over time.

Perhaps the greatest rugby player of modern time Johah Lomu took lots of creatine when he played for the New Zealand All Blacks. Lomu got a rare kidney disease and this eventually led to his premature retirement. He then had many issues until eventually; he passed away at only 40 years of age.

A teammate of his Joeli Vidir who also represented New Zealand was also diagnosed with rare kidney disease. He too took a lot of creatine in his day and believed that the supplement has a lot to do with Lomu’s premature death and his illness too.

L-theanine, bacopa monnieri, rhodiola rosea, panax ginseng, ginkgo biloba, and Noopept are other popular ones. As are piracetam, modafinil, and adderall.

5. But the greatest performance enhancer is your mind.

And within it is your choice to take performance-enhancing supplements or not.

Sure if you are an athlete, understandably, you want to run faster, throw further, and be stronger and you will seek out anything that will make you better. Yet your mind is a very powerful tool and your brain can be trained to push you to a higher performance level that you’ve never thought you could attain.

And by using your mind to decide to do a series of simple things you can enhance your performance substantially in a natural way.

If you get to bed on time you have the power to sleep deeper throughout the nocturnal hours. Because of this you can rise earlier and get the healing power of the morning light. Over time this will improve your performance and sustain it at a higher level too.

Eating properly and at the correct times also enhances your performance.

But too many people allow food to control their decision-making. And even the top athletes in the world, the top CEOs, and the biggest celebrities harm their chances of performing at their highest level because of what they feed themselves with.

Sure they are super talented people who have achieved a lot. But some of them limit their massive ability by what they chose to put in their mouths. Because what we put in our mouth is not only food but what we drink as well. And many people who have demanding lifestyles drink too much alcohol and allow this to become a harmful daily habit.

And that will decrease your level of performance no matter what it is you are trying to achieve.

So rather than leaning on supplements and know the power that you have within yourself in deciding how you want to structure your daily routine and how that can influence your performance now and in the future.
