A daydream is to see your future.

Yet when I was in school and someone was caught looking out the window they got berated for not concentrating on what the teacher was saying.

As knowledgeable as the teachers were back then it has since been proved they’ve got this part wrong. Because if you take a break from what you`re doing all day you`re giving yourself a gap of space to be present and from there to imagine your future as well.

Still, in adult life, too many people are focused on their daily chores and they not only lose their time in it but also their identity too.

But by definition “work” is not supposed to be like this.

As work is defined as an activity that includes mental and physical activity spent to achieve a specific result.

By way of that definition, work is what you make it. It’s not only your job, your entrepreneurship or whatever means you gain money from. Instead work is the menial and boring daily tasks like looking after your children, cooking meals for you and others, planning for tomorrow, and even reading instructions to fix your latest technological household mishap!

Yet the facts are that the things that demand your needs to be met such as paying your rent, your mortgage, or your ability to buy food will produce stress. Because these are linked with your underlying feelings of safety.

So that means that other areas of life like family, your personal life, and the activities and hobbies you have must be stress-free.

And there is where you must have total mindfulness.

So much so that you`ll have the ability to lose the track of time. In beginning able to achieve this you`re giving yourself a great equilibrium and gap from the stresses and strains of your career.

If you think about it you spend at least 8 hours daily in your employment or in those set of tasks that are there to make you money so why should you give your remaining waking time towards being full of stress?

The reality is if you know who you are before you become employed or journey on the road to entrepreneurship then you will be aware of when your professional work pressures threaten to cross that line into your personal life.

I mean how dare you think about your next mortgage payment when you’re lying on the pillow at night?

And

Why should your boss try to contact you after 5 pm?

These thoughts and interferences will not bother you if adopt simple solutions to your existing professional work stress.

So here are 5 ways you can separate professional stress from all other areas of your life:

  1. Have two phones.

And get rid of the work phone once it’s 5 pm. Even if you apply for a job with your personal mobile phone number and then your employers have that number on your record know that once you’ve got the job you’re free to buy another phone as well. Then you can only give that second number to your friends and you can tell them it’s your new personal phone number.

Then make sure your original work phone is turned off or left in another room once the official working day is over.

2. Ditch your watches, clocks, and other timepieces so you can reclaim your feeling of being present.

If you think about it in a similar way to having a work phone there is no need to have watches, clocks, or timepieces around you once your working day is done. Okay on most mobile technology you have a clock of sorts on it so you may think it’s impossible to get away from knowing what the time is and that’s very true in the present day.

But your life goes no faster or slower than previous generations on earth yet it’s only the present-day cultural norms that have pushed people into stress.

So forget the concept of time for a while.

3. Spend more time with good friends that way you won’t need a phone or a watch.

After all, if you`ve given your good friends your second phone number and if that carries a digital clock then once you spend time with them you won’t need to be checking out your phone or peeping at the time on it because you`ll be where you want to be.

4. But remember as your stress levels rise in life that’s why you need to be very careful about whom your friends are too.

Because they will influence your thinking and eventual feelings towards what’s going on in your world. So if pressures of your job or whatever method of income you have come into the conversation then you need to be able to address that with confidence in the presence of these people. Because they know you.

After all, you`ve let them into the real you.

So by sharing your stress with friends about what’s going on in your income-generating world it’s beneficial as it will help you to re-frame how you see that problem in the first place.

And a true friend’s listening ear will go a long way to helping you solve that problem as well.

5. Of course, if you have a lot of problems maybe it’s time to broaden your circle of friends.

As there are so many other people in the world that we have yet to get to know and trust. But each one of them has the solution to each problem that is within your version of the world. So by becoming interested in other things and other places you`ll stretch your interests in other ways of looking at things.

And you`ll allow others into your world too.

By doing so your daydream becomes your future stress-free reality.
