Mental Performance is about maximizing your ability to psychologically perform throughout sports, arts, and activities under pressure.

And not everyone does it consistently.

Although professional athletes, musicians, actors, presenters, and people in higher professional positions such as doctors, educators, lawyers, and CEOs may be in higher-level professional positions, it doesn’t mean they are performing at their highest level all or any of the time. Sure, they have hit that peak at some stage in their careers, but they may also be going through the motions and only getting by at times too.

And if you`re not performing at the highest level mentally, you`ll be taken over by someone who is.

That’s why you need to understand and then implement certain strategies within your daily life to maximize your mental performance.

Here are 7 ways to help you perform at the highest level:

1. Having a regular routine is the best way to start being mentally strong and focused.

And our brains love this too. Because when we are trying to achieve something we need consistency. When a higher achiever wants to be in a better financial or professional position they must work hard and commit themselves to the project.

Leaders and managers demand that you work hard regularly and want to have you beside them as they make big decisions and try new things. If you are consistent in how you show up these leaders will know you want to help and will begin to look to you and your skills base for this support.

2. Make sure your diet lends to you having consistent energy so that you can commit yourself to perform at the highest level.

Working hard and following a routine means that you must feel well. By eating the proper foods at the correct time of day you`ll give yourself a sustainable amount of energy and nourishment to perform to your best. Understanding what amounts of proteins, carbohydrates, and fats is crucial to how you eat.

And eating the most natural of foods and preparing them well will aid you in your quest to be the best.

3. Sleeping the correct amount and at the proper time is crucial to your long-term mental performance.

And for this, you’ll need self-discipline. Once you get that discipline of going to be bed early and getting up early your routine will harmonize and you`ll be tired earlier than most other people. But, on the flip side, because you sleep earlier you’ll wake earlier and be able to perform at a higher level in the early morning hours and our brains love to do highly complex and challenging things early in the morning.

4. Once you’re in the proper sleep routine, are eating well, and are being consistent from day to day you can begin to imagine your future and this is where visualizations can help you out.

And as William Arthur Ward once said:

“If you can imagine it, you can achieve it. If you can dream it, you can become it.”

This is so true.

Being able to see what type of future outcome you wish to have determined in your mind’s eye that it must happen. Of course, many people don’t believe in this concept or simply are unable to do it.

However, if you can master the skill you`ll be ahead of those that are competing against you in your professional field.

5. Meditations soften the mind and allow pure intentions to come through and make you more aware of your daily objectives.

For sure, it takes time to meditate every day but the time that is spent in meditation is traded for clarity of mind in the momentary decisions that you make once you’ve meditated. And making even the smallest of decisions properly has the biggest impact on your life and future performance as well.

Because many people who perform in pressurized environments succumb to the pressure and before they know it are making ill-advised decisions that impact upon their position but also the positions and productivity of those under their leadership.

So clarity of mind is required and this is what regular meditation gives you.

6. Talking to yourself used to be considered crazy but the research shows that if you do it properly you’ll direct yourself into high-performance levels instead.

And there are certain words, phrases, tone of voice, and techniques that are best employed to do it correctly. And if you use them regularly you`ll benefit more than you realize.

Because of the millions of thoughts that we have few have direction and positive energy, but you can begin to control the ones that have and from there, they’ll direct your intentions to what you wish to achieve.

7. Breathing is something we do throughout our day but many people fail to breathe properly.

This is especially apparent with people who are in highly pressurized positions. By learning to breathe properly and efficiently energy is used in the best way possible and performance is heightened to its maximum state.
