How Thankfulness Can Be Your Boomerang Of Happiness

Too many people take from others in this world without seeing the bigger picture of giving to them instead-but if they did they`d notice a bountiful of personal rewards

When I was a child I was fascinated with boomerangs.

If I`m honest I still am.

Back when I was younger I thought it was so cool how you could throw something in the air and control it coming back to you. Although it took me some years to get my hand on one it did what it was supposed to do even though I was an untrained thrower of it.

Even then I thought that there was something bigger than the physical world here on earth.

And boomerangs represented a lot of the way I thought about things back then and it still does now.

Because for me if you put things out there they will come back to you. It may take some time for that to happen and throughout that period you may even forget putting it out there in the first place.

But things do come back to you.

Yet, I’m not only talking about physical things either.

It’s the same with wishes, dreams, and actions.

And if you think of it, most of those concern people.

As we live in a universe that has feelings as its central currency. So we need to be careful that what we put out there will in some small way come back to us in another way or another.

That’s when it will return to us in a good way or a bad one.

But for many of us, we think that what we put out there is neither good nor bad. We view only as of the in-between, the medium.

What I refer to here that qualifies as medium things are menial tasks that most people go through in their day-to-day routine. Because most people do the same things Monday through Friday. On that day, they get up, eat, go to work, come home, do an activity or spend some time with a friend, watch TV, and go to bed.

It’s pretty predictable.

And marketing companies love that predictability. So do political parties, financial institutions, and insurance agencies.

After all, that’s how they make their money.

So by knowing the behavior of masses of people you can help them with their problems and then make money from large amounts of people.

And being thankful works similarly.

If you know that most people want to be thanked for then you can please many people most of the time.

For example, if you`ve ever been to a wedding you`ll have heard a groom’s speech and how they usually contain many sincere wishes of gratitude to those that helped make the big occasion work out. And at that stage of marriage, it is mostly heartfelt gratitude owing to it being such a big occasion in the married couple’s lives together.

Similarly, when someone passes away, mourners of those that bury the dead eventually appreciate those that came to pay their final respects.

So when big emotional things happen we require this form of thankfulness all around us.

Yet most of us don’t have big occasions all of the time. And so most people ignore being thankful for their presence in their lives. With this absence of being thanked most people feel unappreciated.

Instead, they wander through life wondering why they should bother being thankful towards others when rarely in their normal lives does anyone show thankfulness to them.

In so doing, they struggle for motivation to show their gratitude to others. And so a habit of doing for thy self creeps in with its absence. Yet that will never give them a feeling of being appreciated.

At its best, it will give riches and loneliness.

At its worst, it will give a lack of trust to acquaintances and paranoia for strangers.

Yet billions of people feel like this all of the time. And it does not create happiness with other human beings. So from there, people begin to develop anxieties and worse still forms of depression.

So how is this a healthy way to live?

It isn’t.

How is this an economically beneficial way to be around people who may be able to solve all of your problems in life right now?

It isn’t.

How is it going to lead you to success in any area of life?

It won’t.

Yet most people live like this all of the time.

But if we slowed down and appreciated that each person on this planet is doing their best for themselves and those close to them right now then we may begin to see things from their point of view. And when we do we`d feel thankful that we are not in many other people’s situations or predicaments at this present time.

Instead, we must ask ourselves how can we help so many others?

When we ask this we`d figure out that we alone can’t help all others at once because for most of us we don’t have the money, the energy, nor the time. Plus, even if we did, there’s only one of us and we can’t be in two places at once.

Yet if we connect with other good people and then set about helping others we together can show a gracious attitude to them and help create a ripple of thankfulness that can be healing for many in our world.

So what are you waiting for?

Connect with other good people, throw it out there, and then watch how it will come back to you.
