Elite sportspeople perform at the highest level and never seem tired but if you learn what they do you too can be at the height of your game

Rather than being tired, if you work hard on yourself you`ll have more energy.

It sounds ironic, but it’s true.

Because elite sports players use their energy efficiently as they’ve learned over the years and can maximize their bodies’ ability during a sporting contest.

They are confident of their level of energy and you can be too.

Because when you set your intentions to perform and compete at the highest level you practice to replicate it.

And that practice forces your body to become accustomed to being able to sustain a high level of performance for longer. And the more you practice the closer you’ll get to perfection of performance- if you practice in the right way.

Yet, not every sports person practices in the right way.

Some sportspeople put in the time but sometimes don’t understand how they’re practicing is not beneficial.

Because you need to put yourself under pressure in practice so that you have those moments of losing focus to learn from. As it’s in those moments that you understand how to refocus.

The more times you make mistakes in practice and learn from it the better you`ll be prepared when having real pressure on you during a competitive performance.

And by practicing in this way your body can better adapt and retain its energy when the pressure goes on throughout a tough performance.

  • And for sports players adrenaline is pumping throughout the performance so they are focused on what they’re doing.

And when they are completely focused there is nothing that comes into their mind only what is in front of them. Because sports people can’t afford to take their minds off the game or the contest as it moves too fast. One split second of inattention and the whole game around them changes.

And it’s that moment of inattention that represents an opportunity for other teams to score.

If you think about it from the point of view of all the other players concentrating and trying to attack and you’re the defender on the other team who loses your attention for one moment then as soon as you stop concentrating you’ll notice that your body language will change and the opposition will take advantage of that.

And that’s when the whole game can change too.

And when it does the player who is at fault is then presented with another situation. Because they realize they are now the center of attention for all the wrong reasons. And that can play on their mind throughout the rest of the game too.

So if they don’t re-focus and be mindful that’s when their body can feel tired faster.

Because when you`re fully focused and keep your full concentration your body adapts to your brain’s intense level and your heart pumps more blood while your lungs expand and contract to a regular rhythm. This all means that you come into a place of flow. From there your body is capable of sustaining itself for a long while as it loves to maintain the same movements over and over again.

And these continual movements come from the sports person’s initial intention as well.

  • And by athletes measuring their physical performance levels regularly, they know how they are improving.

So when they know they are improving they begin to believe they can go further. Because sportspeople don’t start playing sport when they are adults as they’ve had to learn their skills, build up their base fitness, and perform to the highest level of their age group throughout growing up and getting to this higher level.

When getting to the adult and elite level technology top sportspeople have personal fitness trainers who measure how fit they are to perform and they can see the data and learn from these professionals.

This knowledge gives many players belief and it’s the belief that allows them to understand that they will keep going during a time of extreme pressure in a game or sporting performance.

So if they think they feel tired early on in a game they know they need and can push themselves on because they are no way close to their physical performance level.

And then there are other clever things that elite sportspeople do to maximize their performance so their energy levels are taken care off:

  • They eat properly so they properly prepare their body for the harshness of training hard,
  • They make sleep a priority as it is vitally important to help them maintain a good performance,

· They stretch their body because after the performance it’s vital to keep it nimble,

  • They have some form of a physical therapist to look after their body,

And

  • Many athletes take supplements to make sure they are in taking the best thing for their bodies to recover and repair from injury and tiredness.
